Detailed LPI Instructions

As a leader, completing the LPI consists of 5 simple steps; Registering, Completing the self assessment, Assigning observers. Monitoring Observer Progress, and Observing Others.

1.      Register

You will receive a separate email message from notifications@lpionline.com with a subject line that reads, “LPI Online – Leadership Skills Assessment.”  If you do not receive the notification email, please contact your administrator. Your registration will be sent January 6th.

  • If you are new to the LPI, click on the link in your welcome email which will take you to the registration page. If clicking on the link does not take you to the registration page, please try copy/pasting the link into your browser. Complete all of the requested the information. including the secret questions
Note: If you have multiple email addresses, please click on “Add Another Email” during registration and enter them there. It can be clicked multiple times to add multiple addresses.
  • If you have used LPI before as a Leader or Observer, the email you receive will contain the link to the log on page, as well as your user name.  Click on the link to log into LPI.

Note: If you do not remember your password, please use the forgotten password link at the login page.

2.      Complete the Assessment

When you’ve completed the registration process, you will be logged into LPI.  Once you’re logged in, you can complete the Self survey by clicking on “Start Assessment.” Click Submit at the end of the survey to have your answers recorded.

Note: Once you submit your survey your answers cannot be changed

3.      Assign Observers (See below for more specific instructions for observers) – This is due on Dec 17, 2024

Please upload your observers here:

Once logged in click on Manage Observers. Then, enter in your observers’ information and make sure to save it.

Some time Before you add Observers into the LPI system. you may want to send them a personal email to alert them to the fact you are asking them to complete this survey for you, and stress the deadline.  Let them know that they, too, will receive an email from notifications@lpionline.com with a link that will take them to the registration page.

4.      Monitor Observer ProgressObservers have January 17

You may return to the site at any time to monitor how many of your Observers have responded and send a reminder email to those who have not yet completed the survey by clicking on the “Remind All” button.  This will send a reminder ONLY to those who have not yet completed the survey.  Or you can send an individual reminder to just one observer.

5.      Observer Others

If you are selected as an Observer, you will receive a notification email from each leader requesting your feedback.  You should also see these assessments appear on your LPI dashboard. Just click on Take Assessment next to their name to begin.

NOTE: If you have more than one Observer request, please verify who you are completing the survey for because once a survey is submitted, the answers cannot be changed.

NOTE:  The LPI system will “time out” if left idle for 45 minutes and all work will most likely be lost.

Select Your Observers

As a Leader completing the LPI 360, you will be asked to select a group of people who have had the opportunity to directly observe you in a leadership role (10 or more is highly recommended). Be sure to include all of your managers-including those with whom you may have both direct and in-direct reporting relationships.  Also include all direct reports, when possible, and at least three (3) co-workers or others who could add valuable insight into your effectiveness as a leader. Remember that all feedback from Observers is grouped by category, providing complete anonymity to the respondents: all co-workers’ feedback will be collected and reported as one set of metrics, all direct reports will be reported this way as well. The exception to this type of aggregate reporting is in cases where you may have only one (1) manager; single manager feedback will be recognized in the final report. Once you have determined who your Observers will be:

  1. Confirm each individual’s willingness to participate
  2. Obtain each Observer’s name, email address, and phone number
  3. Follow the online process to add your Observers, including identifying the individual’s relationship to you in a leadership role (Manager, Direct Report, Co-Worker, Other)

If you want you can use the excel spreadsheet under Materials for your observers.

When the set up process is complete, your Observers will automatically receive an email with instructions for completing the 30-item LPI Observer assessment and a URL that will link Observers directly to the LPI Online login page to begin the task of completing their designated assignment.

NOTE: The LPI Online system takes every precaution to maintain the anonymity of Observers. Individual names are not associated with responses. Instead, responses are grouped with those of other participants, based in a common Observer category (Direct Report, Co-Worker, Other). If an Observer category has a single response, that feedback is pooled in the “Other” category to preserve anonymity. However, if a Leader only has one manager who is responding, that feedback will not be pooled into another job type and will be easily recognized by the Leader.
